The Science of Sodium Bicarbonate Toothpaste – parodontax

Press play to see the difference parodontax sodium bicarbonate toothpaste can make

Preventing gum disease at home requires a strict daily routine, but that’s easier said than done. Patients find it difficult to maintain this routine every day, especially when getting to hard-to-reach areas of the mouth

Yet change is possible. So, what makes parodontax your ally in making it happen?

The sodium bicarbonate toothpaste penetrates the plaque matrix, where it disrupts and breaks bonds in the biofilm to loosen plaque. As a result, parodontax toothpaste softens the plaque on the tooth surface, making it easier to brush away. This allows for a four times reduction in plaque build-up in comparison to non-sodium bicarbonate toothpastes.*

What’s more, parodontax toothpaste softens plaque in interproximal spaces, reducing five times more plaque build-up than non-sodium bicarbonate toothpastes in those hard-to-reach areas*1.

What does that mean for the gum health of your patients?

*All patients received a professional clean at baseline and followed a twice-daily brushing regime for 6 months

Proven to enhance the mechanical clean in everyday conditions in a new clinical study3

A new clinical study confirms that parodontax toothpaste with 67% sodium bicarbonate improves gum health in patients with localised gingivitis* with normal, everyday levels of plaque.3

The study design differed from previous Haleon studies as:

  • There was no professional prophylaxis following screening which meant results were measured using patients whose mouths had not been professionally cleaned before using the products
  • The patient population were selected to have localised* (mild) levels of gingivitis
  • This 12 week study had a 3 week first data collection point to allow initial results to be collected

Results confirm that parodontax gum disease toothpaste with 67% sodium bicarbonate targets the visible signs of early-stage gingivitis within 3 weeks and results are sustained at 12 weeks.3

  • Almost twice as many patients returned to gum health when brushing with parodontax compared to those using regular toothpaste**
  • Improvements in just 3 weeks†† in bleeding and inflammation – this feedback can help patients to stay on track
  • 70% improvements at the end of the 12 week period measured by number of bleeding sites vs baseline

*Aligned with the EFP classification – 10-30% bleeding sites on probing4**twice daily brushing for 12 weeks†<10% bleeding sites††vs baseline
